He claimed that once Lord Shiva himself went to Afghanistan to save his life. The story of this Englishman is very surprising.
This story is from the year 1879. An English officer Lieutenant Colonel C. Martin was stationed in the Agar-Malwa (this place is in Madhya Pradesh) area of central India at that time. At that time there was a fight with the British and the Afghans. In 1879, Lieutenant Colonel Martin was sent to Afghanistan to lead the army. Since there was no other means of sending messages other than letters at the time, Colonel Martin also regularly wrote letters to his wife in Malwa and told them that they were fine.
Everything went well for several months, but after this Colonel Martin's letters stopped coming, after which his wife also got upset. Colonel Martin had no idea whether he was safe or was killed in battle. One day his wife was going somewhere because of trouble, then on the way she found a temple of Lord Shiva. Don't know what came to her mind, she went inside the temple. Aarti of Lord Shiva was going on at that time. During this time, the temple priest told that he is Lord Shiva and nothing is impossible for him, he can do whatever he wants. After knowing the glory of Lord Shiva, Colonel Martin's wife prayed to Bholenath to protect her husband and also performed an 11-day ritual. On the 11th day, a miracle happened and a letter came from her husband, Colonel Martin, in which she told about a very strange and miraculous event.
Colonel Martin told via letter that our army was surrounded by Afghans, many soldiers were martyred, there was no hope of survival. So I closed my eyes and remembered God. That is when a person came from the battlefield. Like a yogi, he had long hair, he held a trident in his hand. On seeing him, Afghan soldiers immediately fled from there. In this way Colonel Martin's life was saved and after that he came home to his wife.
After coming home, Colonel Martin's wife said that she had prayed to Lord Shiva to protect him. She took him to the temple of Lord Shiva, where Colonel Martin was shocked when he saw the idol of Lord Shiva. He said that this statue belongs to the person who came to save me. Now Colonel Martin's faith in Lord Shiva became so strong that he spent 15 thousand rupees in the year 1883 and also renovated the temple of Lord Shiva. After this, both the husband and wife went back to England with a promise that they would worship Lord Shiva in their home in England.
