Cardiac arrest

Heart failure is a very serious and life-threatening disease. This is also called cardiac arrest. If seen, there are two or three more such diseases similar to heart attack, about which people are often confused.

People use the terms heart attack and cardiac arrest together when they have a heart problem, but they are not synonymous. The causes of these two diseases are different. A heart attack occurs when the flow of blood to the heart is stopped. On the other hand, heart failure occurs when there is a sudden problem in the electrical process of the heart and the heart suddenly stops beating. In simple words, a heart attack is directly related to blood flow, whereas heart failure is related to a problem with the electrical waves that move the heart.

Clear doubts about cardiac arrest
Cardiac arrest occurs suddenly without any prior symptoms. This problem arises due to a defect in the electrical waves that move the heart. Due to this, the heart rate becomes irregular. Due to the interruption in the heartbeat and pumping action, the heart is unable to deliver blood to the brain, lungs, and other organs. After this, the person starts fainting and after some time the blood flow in the veins stops. In this problem, if the person is not treated immediately, he may even die.

How are these two problems related to each other?
Both these problems are related to the heart and both of them are heart diseases. Sudden heart failure occurs after a heart attack or can occur in the process of recovery from a heart attack. From this, it can be said that the chances of heart failure increase after a heart attack. It is not necessary that heart failure is the cause of heart attack problems, but a heart attack is seen as the main cause in many cases of heart failure. Other heart problems can also interfere with the heartbeat and cause heart failure. These problems include hardening of the heart muscle (cardiomyopathy), heart failure, irregular heartbeat, ventricular fibrillation, and QT syndrome.

Do this in case of sudden cardiac arrest-
Heart failure can be cured by providing treatment within a few minutes. For this, you should first call the hospital and call the ambulance and emergency medicine. You continue to give first aid to the patient with a defibrillator (a machine that delivers an electrical shock to the heart) until emergency treatment begins. Apart from this cardiac arrest, the patient should be given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (medical procedure given to the patient when the heart stops beating) immediately.

What is a heart attack?
When the arteries that carry blood to the heart become blocked, preventing oxygen-rich blood from reaching a part of the heart, then this condition is called a heart attack. If this blocked artery is not opened quickly, the heart starts to suffer because of this artery. If this problem is not treated for a long time, the damage to the heart increases. Heart attack symptoms can be immediate and severe. Sometimes the symptoms of this problem start slowly and if left untreated for a long time, it becomes the cause of heart attack. Let us tell you that, unlike sudden heart failure, heartbeat does not stop in a heart attack.
