World Heart Day-2021


World Heart Day is celebrated every year on 29 September all over the world. This day is celebrated to raise awareness about heart disease and diseases like heart attack, heart stroke. Worldwide, 18.6 million people die every year due to heart diseases. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), methods, precautions should be discussed to prevent and control heart disease (CVD) on World Heart Day. Young people around the world are also now falling prey to heart diseases.


History of World Heart Day

World Heart Day was first celebrated in 1999 after a collaboration between the World Heart Federation and the World Health Organization. Antoine Bey de Luna, former president of the World Health Federation, took the initiative to celebrate World Heart Day. Until 2011, World Heart Day was celebrated every year on the last Sunday of September. But since 2011, this day started being celebrated on 29 September. When world leaders pledged in 2012 to reduce the global mortality rate from non-communicable diseases by 25% by 2025, the day was decided to be celebrated every year on 29 September.


What is the theme of World Heart Day-2021

The theme of World Heart Day 2021 is "Using the power of digital health to create awareness and inform the prevention and management of CVDs globally". CVD is the main source of death around the world.

                                                       Purpose of World Heart Day 

The purpose of this day is to make people aware about heart disease. The number of patients of heart disease is increasing continuously around the world. Doctors believe that heart disease is causing more harm to people in the time of Corona epidemic, due to which heart patients are forced to stay at home due to fear of Covid-19. Simultaneously, patients can't go for their customary exam. This sickness frequently happens because of wrong eating, being under pressure constantly and not practicing on schedule. Various associations all throughout the planet make individuals mindful on this day.

Young people over the age of 35 are also at an increased risk of heart disease due to inactive lifestyle and poor eating habits. In the last 5 years, there has been a rapid increase in the number of people suffering from heart problems. Most of these are men and women in the age group of 30-50 years. People do not have time to keep their body and mind healthy and calm, due to which many types of diseases are being seen in people. Although now the process of unlocking has started, doctors say that now people should exercise for at least half an hour, walk outside a little but with a measure to avoid Covid, while salt, sugar and trans fat things. Avoid eating. This reduces the risk of getting heart disease.

According to a senior and renowned Cardiologist “There is no specific age for heart disease, but due to our sedentary i.e. inactive lifestyle, we have seen case of heart attack in 22 year old man. But people who face heart attack at a young age have very high risk factors. Therefore, the best way to prevent heart attack is to adopt a healthy lifestyle including 45 minutes of aerobic physical activity daily, a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables, and avoiding smoking.
